There is the potential this month for Comet McNaught to spectacularly light up the western sky after sunset. Current predictions give C2006 P1 a magnitude of around 2 on the 14th of January, just after sunset.

McNaught is expected to gradually dim after this, but it's position should improve, moving towards the SW and gaining elevation to around 18 deg altitude in the SSW by mid February.

This could be one to really watch out for.
